Location and Description of the Port:

MARTAŞ port is 100 km west of Istanbul on the Northern shores of the Sea of Marmara.

Port handles;

o        Silver Sand,

o        Bulk Wheat;

o        Bulk Sun Flower Seeds,

o        lron & Steel Raw Materials,

o        Iron & Steel Semi-Finished Products

o        Iron & Steel Products,

o        Bagged cargoes,

o        Liquid Vegetable Oil,

o        General cargo and

o        Project general cargo.

Working hours: Operates 24 hours a day year round.

Anchorage:

Anchorage area is 0.5 mile south-west of the port.

Pilotage:

Pilotage is compulsory for berthing and un-berthing and provided by the MARTAŞ Pilot.

Towage and/or mooring boat is compulsory and arranged by pilot and provided by the MARTAŞ.

Maximum Size of Acceptable Ships:

Maximum size is 45.000 DWT with LOA:  250 m, BEAM: 25 M and DRAFT: 13 m.

Berthing:

There is no berthing restrictions.

Cargo Handling Equipment:

o        4 pneumatic for bulk cargoes ,

o        2 bobcat,

o        2 loaders,

o        1 sweeper and

o        1 special pneumatic head for discharging sunflowers

o       Mobile cranes 1 x 7 tons, 2 x 10 tons, 1 x 12 tons and 1 x 36 tons. Additional cranes can be hired depending on need.

Cargo Handling Rates:

o        Average discharge rate for bulk cargoes in a 24 hour working period is 3.500 Metric Tons.

o        Average discharge rate for bulk Wheat is 500 Metric Tons/Day.

o        Average handling (loading & discharge) rate for Steel products is 5000 Metric Tons/Day.

o        Average discharge rate for bulk Coal is between 1000 to 2500 Metric Tons/Day.

o       Average handling (loading & discharge) rate for Liquid Vegetable Oil is between 1000 to 1500 Metric Tons.
